FOXBOROUGH, Mass. — Longtime Patriots director of participant staff Nick Caserio is closing on a deal extension with the club, a supply verified to ESPN.
Caserio’s deal is set to expire right after the 2020 draft, and head coach Monthly bill Belichick has cited his twin role in personnel and coaching as a “wonderful asset” to the corporation.
Caserio, 44, has performed a central role in drafting and signing players less than Belichick, even though also contributing to the coaching employees as a standard presence at follow and in the coaches’ booth in the course of online games.
He first joined the staff in 2001 as a staff assistant, doing work his way up the ranks to director of participant staff in 2008 — stepping into a foremost function after vice president of player staff Scott Pioli departed to become normal manager of the Chiefs.
But Caserio’s future with the Patriots was unsure previous spring, when the Houston Texans asked for authorization to interview him to become their executive vice president/typical manager.
The Patriots submitted tampering rates towards the Texans, who quickly thereafter identified as off their pursuit of Caserio, with chairman and CEO Cal McNair saying they had been unaware of language in Caserio’s contract in New England associated to other occupation opportunities.
